Powder Matts Dog does not like bad music
Powder Matts Dog does not like bad music. After posting the snow dance video with my Golden I received lots of great input from readers who wanted me to post more dog stories, videos and images. So here you go! I can say the dog has good taste in music as this tune was driving me nuts while I was trying to read a book.
Polar Peak lift update for the week of November 14th
Polar Peak lift update for the week of November 14th. We have had a tremendous amount of snowfall over the weekend and it continued to snow on and off on Monday morning. Range of 30 to 45 cm in the Alpine. Certainly has changed the construction access for us. Now we are going over the snow each day for construction crew members working up in Currie Bowl. We are close to finishing off installing all of the head-frames on the lift towers. This will allow us to fly towers this week. Only delay would be getting the flying weather. We are glad lots of snow has fallen and want the snow to continue but need a two day window of clear skies to fly all of the towers and install each in its place. Lift operator buildings have been installed and drive station and unload station towers are up.
Powder Matt talks Snow in British Columbia
Skiiers and Riders have many names for snow. On the Powder Highway Region of British Columbia we found Pow, Pow-Pow, Fresh and Freshies as some of the favourites. In the far North of British Columbia it was dumpage, along the Middle Region, Monashee Mountains and Columbia Mountains, the words of Cold Confetti came up.
Whatever term for snow you use, Plowing through Pow is a dream come true for skiers and riders. Some also said there was a “no friends rule” on a Powder Day, however I like to say “I have more friends” on a Powder Day as Big Dumps usually bring all the Snow Lovers together.
Powder Matt’s personal favourite is “White Gold” and is showing appreciation by doing Snow Dances and Thanking Ullr the Norse God of Snow.
Snow falling in Fernie, British Columbia
Snow falling in Fernie, British Columbia. Skiers and Riders rejoice! In fact this could be one of several back to back storms shown on weather models. We will have to get Robin ready to do his La Nina Snow video! We also are busy getting the Polar Peak lift built.
