Powder Matt top tips for Fernie visit
Polar Peak update and Christmas storm brings Snow to Fernie
Polar Peak update and Christmas storm brings snow to Fernie. Lift construction crew and Fernie Alpine Resort team gave it all they could to try and get Polar Peak running but ran out of time as the Holidays closed in. So plan is now to have Polar Peak operational for sure by January 14th as we will still need to get full load test and final review and approval by Lift Inspector. Plan to ski the Peak on January 14th but enjoy the Christmas storm that brought fresh today!! Check out images from Fernie today by Robin Siggers

Ski Patrol access Dancer safety line
Ski Patrol access Dancer safety line. Fernie Alpine Resort put in an engineered safety line so the ski patrol can access the Lizard Headwall, Dancer chutes area, to do snow control work. This combined with the new Polar Peak lift will assist the ski patrol team greatly in their efforts to do snow control work. Goal is to open terrain safely and quickly for guests to enjoy!

Santa spotted 1st Skiing in the Canadian Rockies
Santa spotted 1st Skiing in the Canadian Rockies. In addition Santa made a surprise visit over the weekend to check on construction update for the new Polar Peak lift. Santa found good progress on the lift as the crews have been working around the clock. The top terminal bull-wheel has been installed, the communication line has been installed and the haul rope installation is in progress. Electrical work continues on the bottom drive terminal. Crews like Santa’s elves are working hard to try and get this lift operational during the Holiday period. Santa has been visiting the world looking for snow and found it at Fernie Alpine Resort, Fernie, British Columbia. So if you have not booked your ski vacation yet then why not go where there is snow and also ski in ski out lodging to make your vacation easier on you.
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Happy Skiing!
