Snow Dreams for Skiers this winter in BC

My legs are tired but my mind has wonderful ‘Snow’ Dreams after a weekend of incredible skiing conditions at Fernie Alpine Resort. From all accounts last week was truly epic- over 100 cm at Kimberley Alpine Resort, over 35 cm in 24hrs at both Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and Fernie Alpine Resort with each already at over 80cm in the last week.

La Nina delivered big this winter with some major milestones falling or close to falling- can’t forget the epic dump of 5 feet in 2 days at Fernie Alpine Resort (one of the numerous huge storms this winter) and this record breaking news from the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Ski Patrol (Snow Safety team)

‘On Friday morning we broke our record (since we began keeping records in 2000) for settled snow at the Dogtooth Wx plot with 277cm. The previous record was 275cm set in late March 2007. Overall it has been an exceptional winter and one of the best I can recall in my 10 winters here. The coverage is amazing from top to bottom with probably more snow on the way in the next few days’

Ok- so back to where we started….Don’t miss this week (again…) as weather forecasts predict a storm bringing in 25cm to 50cm this week! (La Nina Baby We love you!! Gotta Love Skiing in British Columbia’s Powder Highway! Powder Matt)
