Huge Snow allows Fernie to double terrain and open all lifts for this weekend

Fernie Alpine Resort, Early Opening Ski weekend shot of Pow

Huge Snow allows Fernie to double terrain and open all lifts for this weekend. Fernie Alpine Resort, British Columbia, has some of the deepest snowfall in North America and will have some of the most terrain open at this time in North America with 2500 acres. We have had close to 6 feet of total snowfall for this ski season so far! La Nina is here! More snow expected tonight and Wednesday.

From Golden spike to supporting cats and dogs some examples of many ways Fernie Alpine Resort and Kimberley Alpine Resort support community

Fernie Alpine Resort and Kimberley Alpine Resort both have community support programs. Fernie Alpine Resort Summit Fund and Kimberley Alpine Resort Summit Fund are dedicated to supporting volunteer organizations and non-profits in the communities of Fernie, British Columbia and Kimberley, British Columbia.

Our mandate is to enhance the community by supporting local projects that help create positive opportunities and outcomes for its citizens, especially youth.

To achieve this, we have allocated a fund that will provide $150,000 to (each respective community of Fernie, BC and Kimberley, BC) to a variety of community projects and initiatives over the next 5 years (2007 to 2011). Coming this November we will have provided $300,000 to the East Kootenay region (Fernie, BC and Kimberley, BC).

We have funded a minimum of twelve projects per year, again and to fund causes that will create the largest positive benefit to the community while supporting a wide variety of causes.

Some recent examples include the completion of the new railway loop for the Kimberley Underground Mining Railway- authentic experience that pays tribute to Kimberley’s mining heritage and the SPCA Fernie- we love dogs and cats! we supported the East Kootenay “Paws for Cause” Walk.

There are too many to list here- please visit each website www.skikimberley.com and or www.skifernie.com to see the entire list of community projects/causes that we have supported. We are very proud of the difference we are making in each community through the Summit Fund.
