La Nina is baaaaack! Well if the stormy summer at hand is any indication of what we can expect for our winter along the Powder Highway /British Columbia side of the Canadian Rockies, then get those big sticks ready as the pow season could be intense!
El Nino was good to us last winter but we think his sister can be even sweeter! Though the transition is not guaranteed all of the early weather services are showing that the change to La Nina looks likely. This could bode very well for the Pacific Northwest US and British Columbia. More specifically the Southeastern portion of British Columbia, could reap strong and frequent poundings. Let’s keep on doing our snow dances!
Fernie Alpine Resort, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and Kimberley Alpine Resort, located along the famed, Powder Highway, are busy getting the slopes ready, with the usual brush cutting going on (called ‘summer’ grooming), and longtime staff commenting on how you can feel hints of ‘Winter’ (at least an early Fall) already in the air!
