I can now understand why Crush gets wine lovers all worked up…..Crush for wine lovers is like a week of snow for powder skiers! Powder Matt recently visited Napa to experience Crush. The last time I visited the Napa area there was some ramshackle buildings and many empty storefronts. Well I am happy to report that Napa, California is being revitalized. With the addition of the new AVIA Napa boutique Hotel, thriving restaurants and tasting rooms you have a place that you don't want to miss if you are going on a Wine Country tour in California. First make sure you book your rental car on www.priceline.com and use their 'choose your own price' and go for it! It took me over 20 tries to get the price I wanted so don't give up….Then make sure and plan ahead to book your wine tasting and winery tours. We picked a variety of different wineries- from the historic families of Louis Martini, Mondavi and Krug to smaller boutique wineries like Pride Mountain Vineyards, Darioush and Clif Family Farms. Also on the path and near Napa is William Hill which is a great choice for a nice view out over the valley. Don't miss the tasting deals right now as many have specials on flights of wine and if you buy a bottle your tasting is free.
As far as places to stay that is convenient to both Napa and Sonoma is the Carneros Inn. A fantastic place to truly escape. Make sure you get one of the cabins with the outdoor shower, tub and your very own firepit. Don't miss time sitting and gazing out over the hills on a star filled night while enjoying some great vino from your day time tours!
So many great places to eat! In fact the list is relentless. We had two favorites in Napa. Ubuntu is for real health nuts like us. Everything is made from vegetables…..For pizza lovers- don't miss Azzurro
Enjoy Napa, California during Crush. Yes you still can get your feet on the grapes!
