The Fernie Alpine Resort Ski Patrol deserve a Big Shout Out! Day to day this team of hardworking, dedicated individuals goes flat out to make sure the slopes of Fernie Alpine Resort are safe for your skiing and snowboarding enjoyment. That is there job. But did you know that this crew puts in loads of hours of training, snow safety study, weather analysis, rescue training, and in review of the numerous snow plots inside the ski area boundary to keep them at the top of their game.
I wanted to zero in on a little known group of heros who not only spend the extra hours honing their own skills but also dedicate a tremendous amount of time to training their dog. We are fortunate to have a group of Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association (CARDA) certified dogs at Fernie Alpine Resort.
Recently the Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association (CARDA) held a course in Golden, British Columbia, and all of our new dog members of the Fernie Alpine Resort Ski Patrol passed! A Big salute to the countless hours of training that both the handler and dog go through!
Congratulations to the following fully certified Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association handlers and dog.
Neko (handler Steve)
Pika (handler Jen)
Digger (handler Kirk)
Tarn (handler Forest)
