The good news is that there are loads of great last minute summer activities and adventures to do in and around the Canadian Rockies towns of Fernie, Kimberley and Golden. But the real cheers goes out for the skiers and snowboarders as they ring the powder call with the first time that snow has been in the forecast for the Canadian Rockies region.

As a side note it is predicted that El Nino will return. We have had some epic ski seasons during mild El Nino and it looks like that is coming in early Fall.
Stand Up for yourself. Get out for some stand up paddleboarding on one of the many rivers or lakes in the region. Try the Columbia River wetlands near Golden, Wasa Lake near Kimberley and Lake Koocanusa near Fernie. Get a grip. Try the new climbing gym in Kimberley! It will take you to a higher place! Don’t forget your rock shoes and harness from Black Diamond.
Set up Camp. Check out one of the many BC Provincial Parks close by like Mt Fernie Provincial Park and set up your MSR tent.
Head out for a Hike. So many trails and so little time. So you better get walking now. Try the new ridge walks at both Fernie Alpine Resort and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. As well many options for wonderful strolls to alpine lakes like Gorman Lake near Golden or one of the many gems in St. Mary’s Alpine Park near Kimberley.
