Skiiers and Riders have many names for snow. On the Powder Highway Region of British Columbia we found Pow, Pow-Pow, Fresh and Freshies as some of the favourites. In the far North of British Columbia it was dumpage, along the Middle Region, Monashee Mountains and Columbia Mountains, the words of Cold Confetti came up.
Whatever term for snow you use, Plowing through Pow is a dream come true for skiers and riders. Some also said there was a “no friends rule” on a Powder Day, however I like to say “I have more friends” on a Powder Day as Big Dumps usually bring all the Snow Lovers together.
Powder Matt’s personal favourite is “White Gold” and is showing appreciation by doing Snow Dances and Thanking Ullr the Norse God of Snow.
