with lots of new powder snow in the Bowls at Fernie Alpine Resort you will get to enjoy skiing powder! Skiing Powder is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the sport of skiing. Significant changes in ski technology have made skiing powder much easier. With most skis now on the market having a 'fat' or 'wider' profile. If you are new to skiing powder make sure you begin on terrain that suits your skill level. Important to keep your same balanced stance on your skis (similar to stance you play tennis in). You will need some speed and if you are intermediate level of skill then you will have no problem enjoying the thrill of powder skiing. It will take some getting used to but key is to not sit too far back and or too not throw your arms around (like the old gorilla turns). Try adjusting your turn shape a bit and straighten your turns out- more like an L shape than a C shape. This will help move the skis through the resistence of the snow easier and allow your skis to turn more smoothly. Good luck and enjoy the powder this weekend at Fernie Alpine Resort!
How not to ski powder- too deep and too much fun! Powder Matt having fun at Fernie!
